Make accessible and preserve

When a research project is completed, the results should be published and the research data made accessible. These are central elements of open science and contribute to making research accessible, transparent and reusable.

Research data that is made accessible to other researchers can be used in new research. Publishing results openly and making research data accessible can also contribute to increased societal benefit, for example by:

  • providing a basis for political decisions and evidence-based sectors, such as healthcare and social services
  • streamlining research efforts and avoiding duplication of work
  • increasing transparency in research
  • improving the use of resources within the research system.

At this stage, the project's research data also needs to be evaluated to determine what should be preserved and what may be disposed.

This part of Dataguiden contains guidance for the final phase of the project. It includes two steps in the research data cycle:
