Plan and identify

A successful research process begins with good planning. By planning early on how data will be used in a research project, it becomes easier to identify the appropriate data sources, understand the legal requirements and create sustainable management throughout the entire research data cycle.

Ensure that the project possesses the necessary data management expertise during the planning phase. Several research principals provide support and guidance throughout various stages of the research data cycle.

Data that has already been collected and can be used in research is available from various sources, for example government agency registers, municipal and regional databases, and Swedish universities. Data holders and research infrastructures in Sweden also offer various types of support or services for identifying data.
