Data sources and support from data holders

One important part of the research process is to identify appropriate data sources. There are different types of data available from government agencies, universities, municipalities and regions, as well as from databases in other Nordic countries.

Many government agencies collect and provide data through population registers, surveys and statistical databases. These can be used for research in a variety of areas.

Universities generate large amounts of research data, which in some cases can be reused in new projects.
Municipalities and regions handle large amounts of data, for example data related to social services, education and health care.

Several data holders offer guidance and other resources in connection with ordering data. Please contact the data holders relevant to your research project during the planning phase to discuss what support is available.

More information about data sources and available support is to be found on the respective subpages.
