The Swedish Research Council clarifies requirements for how data should be handled in research projects

From 2026, the Swedish Research Council will update their general grant conditions with more explicit criteria for data management according to FAIR principles and for open access to research data.

This clarification is in line with recommendations within the Swedish Research Council’s assignment to coordinate and support Sweden’s transition to open access to research data by 2026 at the latest. The new terms and conditions aim to strengthen the preconditions for open science and will be published on the Swedish Research Council’s website at the turn of the year.
